DEA involved in Wells incident

Local News

Like government agencies, law enforcement officials at times aren’t always transparent with providing details.

Such was the case regarding an incident that occurred almost two weeks ago in Wells.

Tripleanews.com received two photos that showed a Faribault County deputy in uniform standing and talking with a plainclothes officer.

The other photo was a law officer dressed in what looked like combat gear and walking down a sidewalk in a residential area.

When contacted, Wells Police Chief Tim Brenegan was not able to give any information about the incident, but instead provided a contact number for a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent.

When the DEA officer was contacted, he indicated that any questions would have to be addressed by a public affairs specialist.

The DEA communications person is located in Virginia and says she did not have any knowledge of what happened in Wells, but would try to obtain information.

Sheriff Scott Adams also did not have any details of the incident. He says presence of a deputy is common practice to provide backup and assistance to local police and agencies if needed.
