BEVCOMM is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for vandalizing a utility box.

According to the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were notified that someone had used a firearm to shoot holes into the box located at the intersection of 85th Street and 360th Avenue.

“A handgun and rifle were used and at least nine shots hit the utility box,” says Chief Deputy Scott Adams. “There was $35,000 in damages.”

The incident occurred Friday afternoon between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., according to authorities.

John Sonnek, director of operations for BEVCOMM, says a good portion of customers in the southwest rural Blue Earth serving area were without telephone and Internet services.

“Our technicians were able to get them back in service on some temporary equipment within about four hours,” says Sonnek.

Authorities at this time are not releasing the cailber of the guns that may have been used.

Anyone who may have information is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 507-526-5148, ext. 2.
