A statewide criminal investigative unit is helping to find who is responsible for two homemade bomb devices found in Winnebago.

Police Chief Eric Olson says the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has joined an ongoing investigation being conducted by his department and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Department.

This is an isolated incident directed at a certain person,” says Police Chief Eric Olson. “The general public is not in danger.”

The two devices found were a small Coleman cylinder and butane-type torch canister with a wick fuse ignition.

When asked, Olson was not willing to give the location of where the devices were discovered.

I am not able to release any other information at this time,” says Olson.

Local residents who have security cameras are being asked to review footage that may be suspicious and recorded between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Olson say if anyone finds a device they should call 911 immediately or the Police Department at (507) 893-3218.
