A United South Central (USC) assistant wrestling coach was recently arrested by Wells police.
According to the Faribault County Jail custody list, 38-year-old Evan Ray Getchell was booked at 10:29 p.m. on May 30.
Court records show that Getchell has been charged with three misdemeanor charges of domestic assault – fear of immediate bodily harm.
He also faces a misdemeanor charge of violating a harassment restraining order.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Official minutes of the Nov. 21, 2023, USC School Board meeting indicate that an extra service agreement was approved for Getchell as an assistant wrestling coach.
On May 31, release conditions were set in which Getchell did not have to post bail but must maintain contact with the court and his attorney; keep his attorney and court informed of his current address; and make all future court appearances.
Getchell also must remain law-abiding and not violate a domestic abuse no contact order. The court ruled he is financially eligible for a public defender and must pay a total of $100 for the legal services.
His next court appearance is a pre-trial hearing via Zoom set for June 17.
