The former mayor of Winnebago wants back on the City Council.
Two months after felony drug charges against him were dismissed, Scott Robertson has decided to seek one of two council seats on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
A sign recently erected on a boulevard along Highway 169 says Robertson has launched a write-in campaign.
“I have always had an interest in city government and it hasn’t waned any,” says Robertson. “This is my hometown and I want to see it prosper.”
Robertson says he has had a lot of encouragement to run for council and residents have told him they would vote for him.
“I’m running because I care a lot for the city and has nothing to do with seeking revenge,” he says. “I’ve put the past behind me and am moving forward.”
Also running for the two four-year term council seats are incumbents Chris Anderson and Tony O’Donnell, as well as Jane Sybrandt.
Incumbent mayor Jane Anderson is running unopposed for a two-year term.
