Greenfield Global is putting its Winnebago ethanol plant up for sale.
According to an ethanol publication, the Canadian-based company has hired Chabina Energy Partners LLC as its financial advisor to sell the operational, fully-staffed plant that produces 48 million gallons of fuel annually.
“The decision to sell the facility reflects Greenfield’s commitment to concentrating its resources on initiatives that more closely align with its long-term growth strategy,” says Chabina.
Mayor Jean Anderson and Greenfield officials did not respond to a request for a comment.
In late 2020, Greenfield purchased the ethanol plant that was owned and operated by Corn Plus for more than two decades before idling the facility in September 2019.
The company resumed operations of the facility in late 2021 after making repairs and improvements.
At the time of its closing, Corn Plus was producing 49 million gallons of ethanol annually and employed about 40 people.
Chabina will be accepting non-binding letters of interest from prospective bidders by Jan. 27. The company will review the offers and may choose to negotiate with a bidder or bidders,
Greenfield may also decide to hold an auction of the plant, says Chabina, which would be held on Jan. 29.
