Mapleton police are seeking the public’s help in solving a hit-and-run that occurred in Amboy.
Police Chief Benjamin Honsey says authorities responded to a call reported at 5:20 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.
A motorist struck and damaged three mailboxes, says Honsey, and a parked vehicle on the 400 block of West Main Street.
“Any witnesses with information or surveillance video are encouraged to contact the police department,” he says.
In addition to state charges, the motorist could be charged with causing damage to a mailbox.
That is considered a federal offense and violators can be fined up to $250,000 or imprisoned for up to three years for each act of vandalism.
Anyone having information is asked to contact Mapleton Police Department by calling (507) 524-3091.
