Local police officers with assistance from the county conducted a manhunt in Winnebago on Sunday.
However, they were not armed with “heavy artillery” as a post on a local social media group website suggests.
Police chief Nathan Goette says a total of five officers from his department and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Department combed the northwest part of town.
The officers involved in the search, says Goette, were dressed in their normal duty gear,
“An adult male subject did flee from officers on foot,” he says. “It was shortly before 4 p.m. and the incident lasted about an hour.”
Goette says authorities did not find the man and they believe the public was never in any danger.
“The incident is still under investigation, so the information I can give is limited,” he adds.
