Winnebago residents will get a chance to help shape the city’s future.
At their Wednesday meeting, City Council members approved holding a planning workshop to gain public input.
The brainstorming meeting is the idea of Mayor Jean Anderson and was a discussion item on the council’s meeting agenda.
“We want to know what they (the public) want,” she says. “We have to plan what we want Winnebago to be and where we want to go.”
According to the city’s website, residents will have an opportunity to tell council members what they would like to see happen in the city in the next five to 10 years.
“This is the public’s chance to bring their ideas,” says Anderson. “Small towns will never be what they once were. We have to re-invent ourselves.”
The city’s economic development specialists will also be invited to attend the workshop scheduled to begin 6 p.m. at the Municipal Center.
Refreshments will be provided.
