Another Faribault County official can be added to the list of those facing a complaint.
At the County Board meeting held Tuesday, April 15, Commissioner Tom Loveall acknowledged he was informed Friday, April 11, that a county employee has filed a complaint against him.
“There are certain activities I probably should not have made,” he says. “There are certain conversations and arguments that are or may be touchy.”
During the March 18 board meeting, County Attorney Cameron Davis announced following a closed-session that a county employee has made allegations in complaints against county coordinator Brian Hov and Human Resources director Amanda Shoff.
At that time, board members asked Davis to look into the allegations in one incident involving Hov and Shoff and the other incident only against Shoff.
Davis had hoped to have his investigation completed by April 1, but now says an outside investigator should look into the allegations made in all three complaints.
“There are community member concerns of my ability to remain impartial and neutral,” says Davis. “I do think it is imperative that we don’t add to any mistrust from the outcomes of these investigations.”
Loveall says he 100 percent favors an outside investigator reviewing the allegations made against him and hopes it can be done as soon as possible.
The District 4 commissioner says he will continue his quest for transparency in county government.
“How we do the process and all the ancillary issues that go with that, they are not going away. I’m just getting pulled off the team for awhile,” says Loveall.
Board members did not discuss or make a decision on whether to hire an investigator or have a law enforcement agency conduct the investigations.
