Four Blue Earth city employees seeking restraining orders against a resident will have their day in court this week.

According to court records, Daniel Range is listed as the respondent in the harassment hearings that have been scheduled Nov. 16 in Faribault County District Court.

β€œWe have had issues with him ongoing,” says Council member John Huisman. β€œIt’s been a few times over the past years.”

Seeking the restraining orders are:

  • Mary Kennedy, city administrator;
  • Linda Jahnke, senior center, director;
  • Tammy Davis, office specialist and community service officer;
  • and Heidi Schutt, library director.

During special meetings, council members have gone into closed-session to discuss public access to city staff.

As a result, City Attorney David Frundt is going to court to seek protection for the employees.

In 2020, Range ran for a seat on the City Council. He was defeated by incumbent Mayor Rick Scholtes, 1292 to 328 votes.

The hearing next Thursday will be held before Judge Troy Timmerman.
