Fairmont authorities are releasing the name of a hit-and-run victim and have seized a vehicle they believe was involved in the incident late Sunday night.
Police Chief Michael Hunter says Alan Mark Denouden, 70, of Fairmont is the male pedestrian who was struck around 10:43 p.m. in the area of Downtown Plaza and Third Street.
Hunter says the vehicle recovered after obtaining a search warrant has been processed for physical evidence.
“That will be sent to the lab at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to be processed and compared to evidence from the scene,” he says.
Authorities have identified “a person of interest” with the help of numerous tips from the public.
The Martin County Attorney’s Office will likely wait for the BCA’s report, says Hunter, and additional follow-up investigation to be completed before making decisions on charges.
Denouden’s condition has improved since being airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he was initially listed in critical condition.
