Union Pacific Railroad trains are back on track and rolling after a derailment over the weekend in Faribault County.
The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday near Kiester, according to Robynn Tysver, communications manager for the company.
“Fourteen train cars were carrying wheat,” she says. “No one was injured.”
All the cars were cleared or removed from the right-of-way, she says, and the track has been repaired.
“The track was reopened to train traffic Tuesday morning,” she says.
Scott Adams, Faribault County sheriff chief deputy, says Union Pacific did report the incident to county authorities.
HAZMAT crews did not have to respond and the incident remains under investigation.
