A Faribault County group is using a grass-roots approach to discuss local issues in an effort to spur change.
Brenda Baldwin, member of Minnesota Patriots 4 America, attended the County Board meeting on Tuesday to explain their mission.
“We are no longer willing to accept the things we cannot change, but we are striving to change those things we can no longer accept,” she says.
The group meets at the Veterans Resource Center located in the old Winnebago school.
Baldwin offered an invitation to commissioners, county attorney, media, government representatives and members of the public to attend the meetings held the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Our goal is to inform, educate and act, as we see fit, as a collective group,” she says.
Each meeting features a guest speaker for 30 minutes followed by a question and answer session.
Those attending the meetings are encouraged to bring notebooks, pens, research material to share and a cell phone to take photos of information.
Baldwin stresses that Minnesota Patriots 4 America is not a white supremacist group, nor is it a racist or anti-Semitic group.
She says persons of all political views are welcome and the group does not support candidates.
“We will not tell participants to not vote for a candidate, but we always encourage participants to research candidates and make your own decision,” she says. “This is a war of good against evil.”
