Firefighters from five communities responded to a fire Tuesday afternoon in Winnebago along U.S. Highway 169.

Police Chief Eric Olson says the Winnebago Fire Department was assisted by crews from Blue Earth, Amboy, Delavan and Easton. Firefighters remained on the scene for nearly six hours.

The fire at 835 South Main Street occurred around 2 p.m. but it is not clear how it was reported to authorities.

The address is the former location of B&B Sanitation and according to property records Dale Foster owns the warehouse and shop at the site.

A 2023 Faribault County property tax statement lists Scott Foster as the primary taxpayer. The estimated market value of the commercial buildings and land is $42,200.

Olson says the State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate and determine cause of the fire. No injuries were reported and the buildings were totally damaged.

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office and Winnebago Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
