An early Sunday morning one-vehicle rollover west of Blue Earth claimed the life of a 28-year-old Welcome woman.
According to a press release, Faribault County deputies responded to the unwitnessed accident around 4:51 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 16 and 345th Avenue in Jo Daviess Township
Deputies at the scene determined that the driver of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, Morgan Marie English, was dead.
A passenger in the vehicle, 25-year-old Christian Alfredo Arvizu of Fairmont, suffered serious injuries and was transported by United Hospital District’s Blue Earth Ambulance to the hospital.
The vehicle was eastbound on County Road 16 when it left the roadway and entered the southbound ditch. The car reportedly struck a culvert on 345th Avenue causing it to rollover and land in a bean field.
County authorities and the Minnesota State Patrol are continuing their investigation.
Also assisting at the scene were the Blue Earth fire and police departments, as well as the State Patrol.
